Bowling Green, OH (Sports Network) - Jordon Crawford knocked down 5-of-10
attempts from beyond the arc on his way to a game-high 26 points as the
Bowling Green Falcons defeated the Detroit Titans, 70-65, in a non-conference
bout at the Stroh Center.
Crawford finished 9-of-16 from the floor for Bowling Green (3-3), which picked
up its second win a row. Chauncey Orr pulled down a team-best seven rebounds
while Cameron Black made his presence known on the defensive end with three
blocks and the same numbers of steals.
Ray McCallum paced Detroit (2-3) with 25 points and seven rebounds. Nick
Minnerath went 9-of-11 at the free throw line to net 17 points and Doug
Anderson scored 10 points in the Titans' second consecutive loss.
Black recorded his first steal soon after the jump and pushed it up to Orr for
a layup to give BGSU an early advantage. The Falcons extended the lead to as
many as 14 by shooting 56.5 percent from the floor before halftime. Detroit
battled back and went into the intermission trailing 34-30 by converting 14-
of-17 at the charity stripe in the opening 20 minutes.
The visitors continued to fight back after the break. McCallum gave Detroit
its first and only lead of the game with a dunk at the 13:55 mark of the
second half. Crawford answered with a three-pointer on the ensuing possession
and the Falcons never trailed again. BGSU's bench scored 13 points in the
second half while the Titans' reserves contributed just two.
Detroit struggled from distance the entire contest and finished with only
three makes on 17 attempts from beyond the arc. BGSU connected on 9-of-22
attempts from three-point range.
