Bridgeport, CT (Sports Network) - Derek Needham scored 13 points and dished
out seven assists to lead the Fairfield Stags to a 62-46 decision over the
Milwaukee Panthers in non-conference action at Webster Bank Arena.
Amadou Sidibe added 12 points and nine rebounds as Fairfield (6-5) earned its
second win in a row. Maurice Barrow scored 10 points for the Stags.
Kyle Kelm recorded a double-double for Milwaukee (3-8) with 13 points and 14
rebounds. None of the other Panthers reached double-figures in their second
consecutive loss.
Fairfield led by as many as seven in the first half, but the Panthers chipped
away at the deficit before heading into halftime trailing 23-21. The Stags
converted only 33.3 percent of their field goal attempts including 2-of-11
from three-point range in the opening 20 minutes. The visitors were held to
29.2 percent shooting from the floor in the first half.
Milwaukee continued to struggle after the break and made just 26.1 percent of
its shots from the floor. Fairfield opened up the second half on an 8-0 run to
take control and scored 14 points off of turnovers in the second half to coast
to the 16-point victory.
The Stags' reserves tallied 24 points in the contest while Milwaukee's bench
scored a mere six points.
