Brooklyn, NY (Sports Network) - Ryan Canty recorded an impressive double-
double with 12 points and 15 rebounds as the Fordham Rams defeated the
Princeton Tigers, 63-60, at the Barclays Center as part of the 2012
BROOKLYNHOOPS Winter Festival.
Canty was 6-of-10 from the field for the Rams (2-8), who snapped a five-game
losing streak. Brandon Frazier led the team in scoring with 19 points while
Chris Gaston contributed 16 points and five rebounds.
Ian Hummer tallied 18 points, seven rebounds, and five assists but his strong
performance was spoiled as the Tigers (3-6) lost their second in a row. Will
Barrett was the only other Princeton player to score in double-figures with 13
points on 5-of-10 shooting.
The Tigers led 28-26 at halftime after a back-and-forth first half with each
team converting just over 40 percent of their field goal attempts.
A Frazier layup with eight seconds left put the Rams on top 61-60 for their
first lead since the 9:05 mark in the second half. After Hummer missed a layup
he was forced to foul Bryan Smith with three seconds left which sent him to the
free-throw line. Smith made both free-throws and Hummer's desperation shot with
one second remaining was no good as Fordham took the win.
The Rams earned a 34-28 rebounding edge in the game, which proved to be a key
factor in the final moments.
