Santa Clara, CA (Sports Network) - Behind a 24-point effort from Marc
Trasolini, the Santa Clara Broncos took down the Cal Poly Mustangs, 72-64, in
a non-conference bout at the Leavey Center.
Trasolini shot 9-of-12 from the field and added seven rebounds and three
blocks for Santa Clara (9-2), which has won four in a row. Evan Roquemore
added 16 points, Raymond Cowels III chipped in 12 points, and Kevin Foster
tallied 10 points and seven assists.
For Cal Poly (4-5), Chris Eversley logged 22 points, 10 boards, and five
assists. Kyle Odister netted 11 from off the bench, and Brian Bennett scored
10 for the away team.
Both teams shot well in the first half, with Cal Poly making 50 percent of its
field goal attempts and Santa Clara shooting 45.5 percent from the field. The
Broncos made good on 6-of-10 from three-point range in the frame, as they took
a 31-29 lead at intermission.
After a pair of Jamal Johnson free throws, the Mustangs led, 50-48, with 9:48
to play, but from there Santa Clara ripped off a 19-4 run to separate itself
down the stretch.
The Broncos held a decisive advantage at the foul line, as they made 23-of-28
from the charity stripe, while the Mustangs shot just 9-of-12.
