Martin, TN (Sports Network) - Will Cook led the way with 18 points as the
Samford Bulldogs took down the Tennessee-Martin Skyhawks, 75-62, in non-
conference action at the Elam Center.
Five Bulldogs (3-10) scored in double figures, with Raijon Kelly and Tim
Williams adding 16 points each. Clide Geffrard Jr. chimed in with 11 points
and Connor Miller chipped in with 10 points. Kelly also dealt out six assists
while Geffrard Jr. and Cook pulled down six boards each.
Mike Liabo led the Skyhawks (3-9) with 23 points and Myles Taylor finished
with 11 points and eight boards.
Both teams shot over 50 percent to start the contest. Samford connected on
52.2 percent from the field, including 4-of-10 from three-point range, as the
Bulldogs took a 36-30 lead into halftime. UT Martin hit on 55 percent of its
field goal attempts, but just 2-of-5 from three-point range.
After intermission, Samford was even better, making 60 percent of its field
goal attempts. The Skyhawks managed to shoot just 32.3 percent from the field
in the second half. Leading by just four early in the half, the Bulldogs used
a 14-4 run to extend their lead to double-figures. The Skyhawks got no closer
than nine points the rest of the way, as Samford cruised to the road victory.
The Bulldogs had an edge in the paint, outscoring UT Martin 36-28. The
Skyhawk bench outscored their Bulldog counterparts, 45-18.
