Grand Forks, ND (Sports Network) - Derrick Barden scored 20 points and was a
rebound shy of a double-double as the Northern Colorado Bears defeated the
North Dakota Fighting Sioux in a Big Sky Conference matchup at the Sioux
Center.
Tevin Svihovec scored 19 points and Tate Unruh had a double-double of 13
points and 10 rebounds for Northern Colorado (3-6, 1-0 Big Sky). Paul
Garnica chipped in 14 points off the bench.
Aaron Anderson scored 18 points and Mitch Wilmer added 15 for North Dakota
2-8. 0-2) which has lost seven of its last eight. Troy Huff added 14 points
off the bench.
At the end of the first half the score was knotted at 31-31. Northern
Colorado hit on 36.7 percent of its shots while North Dakota connected on
30.3 percent but kept the game even by outscoring the Bears from beyond the
arc, 15-12.
The Bears improved to a blistering 73.7 percent shooting in the second half.
The Fighting Sioux had 36 field goal attempts but hit on only 13 as they
surrendered the contest.
Northern Colorado benefited from a 43-36 edge on the boards while North
Dakota lost despite outscoring the Bears 16-0 on second chance points.
