Cedar Falls, IA (Sports Network) - Seth Tuttle paced four teammates in double
figures with 18 points as the Northern Iowa Panthers outlasted the Saint
Mary's Gaels, 82-75, in non-conference action at the McLeod Center.
Jake Koch stuffed the stat sheet for UNI (7-5) with 16 points, nine rebounds,
five assists, two blocks, and a steal. Anthony James scored 15 points, while
Deon Mitchell added 12 points and four assists for the home team.
For Saint Mary's (8-3), Jorden Page shot 10-of-14 from the field, including 6-
of-9 from 3-point range, on his way to a career-high 26 points. Mitchell Young
grabbed 10 rebounds, and while Matthew Dellavedova struggled from the field
(3-of-11), he finished with nine points and six assists.
With the game tied at 29-29 in the final minute of a back-and-forth first
half, Marc Sonnen drained a 3-pointer in the waning seconds of the frame to
give UNI a 32-29 advantage at the break.
The Panthers shot 56.5 percent from the field after intermission, and while
the Gaels cut their deficit to one, 48-47, with just over 11 minutes to play,
UNI answered with a 20-6 run to pull away.
Saint Mary's shot an impressive 50 percent from the field on the afternoon,
but it did not help itself at the foul line (8-of-17). UNI, on the other hand,
made good on 25-of-37 attempts from the charity stripe.
