Macomb, IL (Sports Network) - Terell Parks scored a game-high 19 points as he
helped lead the Western Illinois Leathernecks to a 73-63 win over the Golden
Grizzlies of Oakland in Summit League action at Western Hall.
Parks, who knocked down 8-of-10 shots from the floor, added eight rebounds and
three blocked shots for the Leathernecks (9-3, 3-0 Summit) as they won their
sixth straight outing. Adam Link tacked on 16 points, Don McAvoy 13 and Remy
Roberts-Burnett 10 points in the triumph. Ceola Clark, who entered the game as
the team's leading scorer with 13.9 ppg, finished with just two points on 1-
of-6 shooting from the floor.
The Golden Grizzlies (5-9, 0-1) were led in scoring by Ryan Bass who tallied
18 points, while Travis Bader and Corey Petros delivered 15 points apiece, the
latter also clearing a game-high 11 rebounds in the team's second setback in
the last three games.
Shooting 52.0 percent from the floor in the first half, WIU moved out to a
31-27 lead at the break over the Grizzlies.
In the second half there was no stopping the Leathernecks as they connected on
an incredible 80 percent (12-of-15) from the floor, adding 18-of-25 accuracy
at the free-throw line in order to record the double-digit victory.
Western Illinois finished the night shooting 62.5 percent from the field and
outscored Oakland at the charity stripe by a 21-12 margin.
