Newark, DE (Sports Network) - Devon Saddler poured in 23 points to lift the
Delaware Blue Hens to a 69-54 victory over the Hofstra Pride in a Colonial
Athletic Association tilt at the Bob Carpenter Center.
Jarvis Threatt added 19 points and swiped six steals for Delaware (7-8, 2-0
CAA) as it picked up its third consecutive win. Kyle Anderson got into the mix
by tallying 11 points.
Hofstra (4-11, 1-1) lost despite a season-best 13 points by Daquan Brown.
Stephen Nwaukoni pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds as the Pride lost for the
ninth time in their last 10 games.
Delaware was in front for most of the first half, but could not pull too far
away as both sides went 13-of-28 from the field in opening 20 minutes. The
Pride went into the intermission trailing, 28-25, after they failed to drain
any of their three attempts from distance before the break.
Hofstra was unable to keep up the efficiency and made just 29.2 percent of its
field goal attempts and only 11-of-21 at the charity stripe in the second
stanza. The Blue Hens pulled away by hitting 53.8 percent of their attempts
from the floor in the final 20 minutes.
The Pride held a 36-31 edge in the rebounding battle, but they fell to
Delaware for the third straight time after sinking only one of their 10 tries
from beyond the arc.
