Nashville, TN (Sports Network) - Kellen Thornton scored 13 points to lead the
Tennessee State Tigers to an 80-48 blowout over the Tennessee-Martin Skyhawks
in an Ohio Valley Conference clash at the Gentry Center.
Patrick Miller scored 12 points for TSU (10-7, 4-0 OVC), which has won six of
its last seven outings. All 11 players who took the floor for the Tigers
scored at least two points.
Myles Taylor had a terrific night for UT-Martin (4-13, 1-4) despite the loss,
scoring a season-high 25 points on 11-of-23 from the floor. The rest of the
Skyhawks combined to shoot 9-of-38.
Tennessee State led 46-24 at halftime after shooting 53.8 percent in the first
half while hitting 5-of-8 from behind the arc.
The 22-point halftime deficit was cut to 14, but UT-Martin would get no closer
than that as they failed to make a perimeter shot in the second half and shot
just 1-of-14 from behind the arc for the game.
Tennessee State, which outscored the visitors at the free-throw line by a 20-7
margin, leads the all-time series, 31-20.
