Cheney, WA (Sports Network) - Collin Chiverton scored a game-high 22 points
off the bench as the Eastern Washington Eagles posted an 82-59 win over the
Northern Arizona Lumberjacks in Big Sky Conference play at Reese Court.
Chiverton shot 8-of-14 from the floor, added four rebounds, three assists and
three blocked shots in just 20 minutes of action for the Eagles (4-11, 2-3 Big
Sky) as they snapped a two-game slide. Venky Jois responded with a double-
double consisting for 14 points and a game-high 14 rebounds, adding four of
the unit's 11 blocked shots along the way, while Martin Seiferth and Jeffrey
Forbes chipped in 13 and 11 points, respectively.
The Lumberjacks (5-10, 2-3), losers of two straight and five of the last six
games, were paced by DeWayne Russell with 17 points, followed by Michael Dunn
with 11 off the bench.
NAU led by as many as eight points less than four minutes into the first half,
but the team ended up shooting just 30.8 percent from the floor in the frame,
which allowed the Eagles to take a 40-22 lead into the break.
In the second half EWU again had the hot hand with 51.4 percent accuracy from
the field, en route to the lopsided win.
The Eagles survived 19 turnovers and just 8-of-20 shooting at the charity
stripe on the night.
