Clemson, SC (Sports Network) - Milton Jennings had a career day for Clemson as
he delivered 28 points and 14 rebounds in a 77-70 win over the Virginia Tech
Hokies in Atlantic Coast Conference play at Littlejohn Coliseum.
Jennings, who shot 16-of-18 at the free-throw line on the day for the Tigers
(11-8, 3-4 ACC), also added four blocked shots to his stat line as the team
snapped a two-game slide. Damarcus Harrison added 19 points and K.J. McDaniels
17, while Devin Booker contributed 10 rebounds in the triumph.
Erick Green, who entered the game leading the nation in scoring with 25.2
ppg, finished with 25 points for the Hokies (11-8, 2-4), adding five assists
and four rebounds for the visitors as they lost their second straight. Jarell
Eddie tacked on 19 points.
Clemson opened the meeting on a 9-0 run and led by as many as 12 points just
over six minutes into the contest, but the Hokies responded with 12-of-15
shooting at the free-throw line in the period in order to knot the score at
33-33 at the break.
In the second half VaTech made good on only 2-of-9 attempts beyond the arc,
compared to 5-of-11 for the hosts as Clemson slowly pulled away for the
victory.
In a game that featured five ties and eight lead changes, the Tigers finished
10-of-21 beyond the arc.
