Poughkeepsie, NY (Sports Network) - O.D. Anosike registered a huge double-
double with 20 points and 21 rebounds as the Siena Saints captured a 79-75 win
over the Marist Red Foxes in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play at McCann
Arena.
Anosike added five assists, two blocked shots and a pair of steals for the
Saints (5-16, 3-7 MAAC) as they snapped a three-game slide. Evan Hymes posted
a team-best 21 points for Siena, followed by Trenity Burdine with 13 off the
bench, while Rakeem Brookins and Rob Poole responded with 12 and 11 points,
respectively.
The Red Foxes (5-16, 2-8), losers of two straight and 10 of the last 11
outings, were paced by Chavaughn Lewis with a game-high 23 points, Devin Price
18 and Isaiah Morton 15 points off the bench. Adam Kemp logged a double-double
with 11 points and 13 rebounds in the setback.
Marist opened the meeting on a 9-2 run and led by as many as 13 points in the
first half, but the team watched a 27-21 advantage at the 7:30 mark disappear
and turn into a 41-33 lead for the Saints at the break.
In the second half the Red Foxes used a 16-of-23 performance at the free-throw
line to close the gap, but still couldn't erase what had been a 15-point
deficit.
The nation's leader in rebounding a season ago with 12.5 per game, Anosike had
a run of 17 consecutive double-doubles in 2011-12 and is again averaging
double figures in both scoring (13.1 ppg) and rebounding (12.0 rpg) through 21
games this season. The 21 rebounds today were one off his career high set last
season against Fairfield in a 64-56 setback on Feb. 5, 2012.
