Nashville, TN (Sports Network) - Rod Odom had a game-high 15 points, and the
Vanderbilt Commodores took down the Arkansas Razorbacks, 67-49, in
Southeastern Conference play from Memorial Gymnasium.
Sheldon Jeter added 13 points and Josh Henderson scored 11 off the bench to
help the Commodores (9-13, 3-7 SEC) snap a four-game slide and avenge an ugly
56-33 loss to Arkansas last month.
Mardracus Wade had 13 points to pace the Razorbacks (14-9, 5-5), who were
coming off an upset win over second-ranked Florida earlier this week. Wade was
the only double-figure scorer for Arkansas in the game.
Vandy built a 21-11 lead on Odom's layup at the 8:18 mark of the opening
frame. The Commodores eventually took a 35-24 halftime lead into the locker
room after holding Arkansas to 7-of-26 shooting from the floor (.269).
The Razorbacks cut the deficit to 43-38 on a pair of free throws by Rashad
Madden with 11:44 to play in regulation. However, the Commodores answered
right back with a 9-0 spurt to push the margin back to 14, and they led
comfortably the rest of the way.
Vandy shot 50 percent for the game and made 9-of-22 3-pointers (.409).
Arkansas, which shot just 30.8 percent from the floor, is 14-1 at home this
season but is winless in all eight tries outside of Fayetteville.
