Harrisonburg, VA (Sports Network) - A.J. Davis scored 17 points, leading four
players in double figures, as the James Madison Dukes captured a 75-70 win
over the Towson Tigers in Colonial Athletic Association action at the
Convocation Center.
Also having a strong game for the Dukes (15-12, 9-5 CAA) was Devon Moore who
recorded a double-double with 13 points and a game-high 10 assists, while
Andre Nation accounted for 14 points and Rayshawn Goins with 12 and eight
boards as the team won for the second time in the last three outings.
Marcus Damas was the leading scorer for the Tigers (14-13, 9-5) were a game-
high 19 points, while Mike Burwell and Bilal Dixon both dropped 13 points, the
latter tying for the game-high with 13 rebounds. Jerrelle Benimon was
responsible for 12 points and 13 boards as the team had a four-game win streak
come to an end.
JMU led by as many as eight points in the first half, but the team shot just
2-of-9 behind the 3-point line in the period, en route to a 29-26 advantage at
the break.
In the second half the Dukes displayed much better shooting on the perimeter
(4-of-7) and made good on 14-of-20 at the free-throw line in order to claim
the five-point victory.
Towson, which actually led by as many as seven points about seven minutes into
the second half, suffered 15 turnovers which the hosts traded in for 18 points
on the night.
