Detroit, MI (Sports Network) - Nick Minnerath registered a game-high 34 points
as the Detroit Titans posted a convincing 92-62 win over the Cleveland State
Vikings in Horizon League action at Calihan Hall.
Minnerath, who shot 12-of-22 from the floor, also cleared 12 rebounds for the
Titans (17-9, 9-4 HL) as they posted their fifth win in six tries. Also
registering a double-double for the hosts was Ray McCallum who not only
accounted for 16 points and a game-high 13 rebounds, he also handed out eight
assists and made four steals. Jason Calliste chipped in 19 points and dished
out five assists.
The Vikings (12-14, 4-8) were paced by Bryn Forbes with 14 points, but he shot
just 1-of-7 beyond the arc as the squad bowed for the second time in as many
outings. Marlin Mason checked in with 11 points and a team-high eight rebounds
off the bench.
CSU held an early three-point edge in the contest, but the team made only
eight field goals through the first 20 minutes of action, en route to a 42-24
deficit at the break.
Both teams shot slightly better than 48 percent from the floor in the second
half, but Detroit also made good on 12-of-14 at the free-throw line in the
period in order to pull away for the 30-point victory.
In addition to turning the ball over 16 times, the Vikings were also dominated
on the glass, 46-25, with Detroit clearing 23 boards at the offensive end of
the floor alone.
