Greeley, CO (Sports Network) - Lenny Antwi scored just six points but he
connected on the game-winning 3-pointer with eight seconds remaining as North
Dakota outlasted the Northern Colorado Bears, 64-62, in a Big Sky Conference
clash at Butler-Hancock Sports Pavilion.
Troy Huff led the way with 19 points for North Dakota (12-14, 9-8 Big Sky),
which has won two of three. Aaron Anderson (18 points, five assists) and Shane
Benton (12 points) were also impressive for the visitors.
For Northern Colorado (9-16, 7-10), Connor Osborne logged 19 points and three
blocks, while Derrick Barden recorded a double-double with 14 points and 11
rebounds. Tevin Svihovec chipped in 12 points for the Bears, who had won their
previous three games.
North Dakota shot 50 percent from the field in the first half while holding
Northern Colorado to 34.4 percent shooting, as it took a 31-28 lead into
intermission.
The Bears started the second half on a 6-0 run to take the lead, and they
extended their advantage to as many as 11 later in the frame. North Dakota
climbed back in the game late, and although Northern Colorado still led,
62-60, in the final minute, Antwi drilled the game-winning trey with eight
seconds to go. Following a Northern Colorado turnover, Benton went 1-of-2 from
the foul line, and Tim Huskisson missed the potential game-winning shot for
the Bears in the waning seconds.
Northern Colorado lost despite winning the rebounding battle, 42-33, and
outscoring North Dakota in the paint, 38-20.
