Baton Rouge, LA (Sports Network) - In SEC action at the Maravich Center,
Charles Carmouche scored 26 points to lift the LSU Tigers over the Arkansas
Razorbacks, 65-60.
Carmouche shot 9-of-11 from the field, including 3-of-5 from 3-point range for
LSU (17-9, 8-7 SEC), which won for the fourth time in its last five games.
Anthony Hickey added 10 points and five assists for the home team.
Arkansas (17-11, 8-7) was led by Marshawn Powell, who finished with 17 points
and eight rebounds but shot just 5-of-14 from the field. Mardracus Wade added
15 points and four steals for Arkansas, which has lost back-to-back games on
the heels of a three-game win streak.
LSU knocked down seven 3-pointers in the first half and shot 48.6 percent from
the field to pull ahead 45-32 at intermission.
In the second half, the Tigers' field goal efficiency dipped to 29.4 percent.
Although they shot poorly, they were able to hold the Razorbacks to 31 percent
from the floor and they clung to the victory.
Arkansas was off the mark from 3-point range (6-of-25) as well as the foul
line (14-of-22) on the evening.
