Las Cruces, NM (Sports Network) - Bandja Sky scored a game-high 19 points and
drilled a critical 3-pointer in the final minute to carry the New Mexico State
Aggies to a 69-66 win over the Texas-Arlington Mavericks in a Western Athletic
Conference finale at the Pan American Center.
K.C. Ross-Miller added 12 points and Daniel Mullings had 11 points for New
Mexico State (21-10, 14-4 WAC) which ended the season with wins in three of
its last four games.
Kevin Butler scored 14 points and Karol Gruszecki chipped in 11 for Texas-
Arlington (17-12, 11-7) which lost its last two games of the regular season.
New Mexico State shot 52.2 percent from the floor and held Texas-Arlington to
just seven field goals on 22.6 percent shooting to take a 38-23 lead at the
break.
The Mavericks came storming back after halftime by shooting 55.6 percent from
the field while hitting five shots from beyond the arc. They were able to take
a 66-64 lead with 15 seconds remaining but Sy nailed a 3-pointer with three
seconds left and Remi Barry sank two free-throws after a Mavericks' turnover
to seal the win.
The Aggies had a 25-13 edge in points from the free-throw line.
