Nacogdoches, TX (Sports Network) - Stephen F. Austin has postponed its season-
opening football game against Southwestern Oklahoma from Thursday to Friday due
to the possible damage of Hurricane Isaac.
The game will still have a 7 p.m. ET kickoff.
"With the westward movement of Hurricane Isaac we felt this was a necessary
precaution," SFA director of athletics Robert Hill said. "We always want to do
what is in the best interest of our student-athletes and fans, and didn't want
to risk place them in harm's way. Delaying the start of the game by 24 hours
was best option for everyone involved."
SFA, from the Southland Conference, enters the contest riding a five-game win
streak dating back to last season and is coming off a 6-5 campaign.
Southwestern Oklahoma is a Division II program.
