ATLANTA - Sources confirmed to 11Alive News Atlanta Hawks center Dwight Howard is out of a local hospital following a bout with dehydration Sunday night.
Howard, 30, felt ill while on a flight to Atlanta and was taken to the hospital shortly after landing. He was released Monday morning.
The eight-time NBA All-Star had just completed a 10-day promotional tour in China.
Howard, an Atlanta native and graduate from Southwest Atlanta Christian Academy, signed a three-year, $70.5 million deal with the Hawks back on July 1.
The former NBA Defensive Player of the Year ranks fifth in NBA history in field goal percentage and 13th in rebounds per games. This past season with the Houston Rockets, Howard averaged a double-double, scoring just under 14 points per game while grabbing 12 rebounds per game.
