It's game day in Athens, Ga.
It has nothing to do with the team in red and black. This week, it's all about Cedar Shoals High School hosting Oconee County for the #Team11 Game of the Week Friday night.
The Jaguars and Warriors will meet for just the seventh time in history despite the schools being roughly 10 miles apart.
The all-time series is 3-3, and Cedar Shoals won the last two meetings in 2006 and 2007.
Cedar Shoals is 3-0 for the first time nine years, coincidentally the same year the two teams last played. Quarterback Aakeem Glenn has a good arm, throwing for seven touchdowns in the team's first three games. The Jaguars defense has helped Glenn and the rest of the offense by putting points on the board and limiting opponents to an average of 10 points per game. They are led by senior safety Ryan Huff, an Appalachian State commit.
The defense will have to work especially hard against Oconee County who has had a similar start to its season. The Warriors are 3-0 for the second time in three seasons. Quarterback Sam Middlebrooks connected with Ty Paschal twice in the team's victory against Morgan County. The Warriors finished with a shutout victory, their first since October of last season. Teams only average 7.3 points per game against the Warriors.
11Alive will be reporting live from the Game of the Week with a preview at 6 p.m. and then again after the game with highlights at 11 p.m.
