GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. -- A rising star in the Southern League is now making a move up to Triple-A and the Gwinnett Braves.
MiLB.com reports that Ronald Acuna, the No. 86 prospect is moving up from Double-A after an announcement on Wednesday. According to MiLB's Josh Jackson, the 19-year-old center fielder learned of the move after a three-hit performance on Wednesday night.
"It's a great opportunity for a young kid," Mississippi manager Luis Salazar told MiLB.com. "And he's a very talented kid with a bright future ahead of him."
The site reports that Acuna started in Class A but moved up to Mississippi after 28 games - eventually standing at second on the Southern League circuit with a .326 average and a .520 slugging percentage. He also hit 14 doubles, nine homers and a triple and has stolen 19 bases after already having 14 during his time with the Fire Frogs.
