Braves stadium construction to begin in July

ATLANTA -- It's game on for the new Atlanta Braves stadium in Cobb County. New documents show the timeline of when renderings of the new stadium will slowly come to life.

General contractors hoping to get in on the action must have their proposals in by May 8, and a decision will be made by May 27.

The new design will come together quicker than all the time people unhappy with the new stadium have spent fighting it. The new documents say the site clearing will start July 15 of this year. The grading and site work will begin on Sept. 4.

After that, the big equipment comes out, with the construction of the stadium starting on Feb.18, 2015.

In the documents, Cobb County says they're looking for a unique design that will have features designed just for the Braves.

When it all comes together, it's a sprint to the finish, with Cobb County laying out a completion date of Jan. 25, 2017.

Fans won't have to wait long to get inside. The soft opening will be Feb. 21, 2017.
