(Sports Network) - The Tennessee Titans will reportedly hire Gregg Williams to
their coaching staff once he is reinstated to the NFL by commissioner Roger
Goodell.
Multiple reports state Williams, who worked with the Titans franchise as
defensive coordinator from 1997-2000, could be brought back before the Super
Bowl. ESPN reports the Titans are on the verge of naming Williams an assistant
head coach.
Saints coach Sean Payton was reinstated by Goodell earlier this month. Payton
was suspended for the entire 2012 season for his role in the Saints' bounty
scandal.
Williams, who was the defensive coordinator of the Saints, was suspended for
an entire season for similar reasons, but has reportedly been allowed to
pursue NFL jobs.
On February 3, 2012, Williams was introduced as the new defensive coordinator
of the St. Louis Rams. He never had a chance to be in that role for a game
though as a month later it was revealed Williams was part of the pay-for-
performance bounty program for the Saints.
