San Jose, CA (Sports Network) - Logan Couture tied the game late in regulation
and Michal Handzus scored the lone shootout goal, as the undefeated San Jose
Sharks extended the best start in franchise history with a 3-2 win over the
Anaheim Ducks at HP Pavilion.
Couture found the back of the net with 2:45 remaining in the third period,
taking a drop pass from newcomer Scott Gomez and ripping a shot past Anaheim
goalie Jonas Hiller.
Handzus, the first participant in the shootout, beat Hiller over the glove.
Antti Niemi turned away the Ducks' first two shooters, Bobby Ryan and Corey
Perry, before getting a little help from the crossbar on Teemu Selanne's bid.
The Sharks improved to 6-0-0 on the young season.
