ATHENS - Word of quarterback Jacob Eason getting the start Saturday against Nicholls (12:05, SEC Network) wasn’t the only news concerning Georgia on Friday.
UGASports has learned that running back Sony Michel has been cleared to play and could see his first action since breaking a bone in his forearm during an ATV accident back during the July 4 weekend.
According to sources, Michel was given the green light on Thursday and was allowed to go full-contact in practice.
Whether or not that means Michel will actually get some snaps on Saturday remains to be seen.
The Bulldogs obviously won’t need the junior to defeat the FCS Colonels and coaches could opt to have Michel get a full week’s worth of practice under his belt before next week’s SEC opener at Missouri.
Either way, this is good news for the Bulldogs who with Michel’s addition will be at full strength for the first time this year.
Last year, Michel took over after Nick Chubb’s knee injury and rushed 219 times for 1,161 yards and eight touchdowns for the Bulldogs.
