Paris, France (Sports Network) - A fourth-seeded Italian duo of Sara
Errani and Roberta Vinci secured a berth in Friday's women's doubles final at
the 2012 French Open.
Errani-Vinci whipped a 12th-seeded Spanish tandem of Nuria Llagostera Vives
and Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez 6-4, 6-2 in Wednesday's semifinal action at
Roland Garros. Errani and Vinci were also doubles finalists at this year's
Australian Open, but lost to Russians Svetlana Kuznetsova and Vera Zvonareva.
The hot Errani will play a women's singles semifinal against 2010 French Open
runner-up Samantha Stosur on Thursday.
The other doubles semi was suspended because of darkness on Wednesday, as
fifth-seeded Czechs and reigning French Open champs Andrea Hlavackova and
Lucie Hradecka were tied with a seventh-seeded Russian pairing of Maria
Kirilenko and Nadia Petrova 6-4, 5-7 when play was stopped.
The winning team in Paris will split $425,000.
