Stuttgart, Germany (Sports Network) - Top seed Janko Tipsarevic was an easy
second-round winner Wednesday at the Mercedes Cup tennis event.
The Serbian star drilled Belgian Steve Darcis 6-4, 6-2 on the red clay at
TC Weissenhof. Tipsarevic will meet Germany's own Bjorn Phau in Friday's
quarterfinals.
Meanwhile, Guillermo Garcia-Lopez upended fourth-seeded fellow Spaniard Pablo
Andujar 6-1, 4-6, 6-1. Andujar was last year's Stuttgart runner-up to
former world No. 1 compatriot Juan Carlos Ferrero.
Additional second-round action saw Phau douse Czech Lukas Rosol 7-6 (7-3), 7-6
(7-2) and German wild card Dustin Brown uncork 19 aces in getting get past
Frenchman Benoit Paire 7-6 (7-4), 4-6, 6-1. The big-serving Brown will face
Garcia-Lopez in the round of eight.
