ATLANTA -- The Clark Atlanta University Lady Panthers women's tennis team topped conference opponent Fort Valley State University (8-1), but fell to Georgia Southwestern (9-0) and Clayton State University (9-0) on the road Saturday and Sunday.
In the three match series over the weekend, it was all Clark Atlanta in the win over Fort Valley as Brionne Bachus and Ivory Conley in the No. 5 and No. 6 singles sports, respectively cruised to straight set wins. From the No.1 doubles position, Bachus and freshman Vonnick Boyogueno beat the Lady Wilcats 8-4, while Asia Boyd and Conley only dropped one set from the No. 2 doubles spot.
Despite losing 8-5 in doubles, Bachus and Boyd finished strong in the loss to Georgia Southwesten who only gave up 14 total sets in singles play. Sophomore Vanessa Jean Baptiste was impressive in her No. 2 singles play against Clayton State though falling 6-2 and 7-5.
Next, the Lady Panthers (1-3) will travel to face the University of West Alabama Saturday, Feb. 16, at 2 p.m., before hosting Huntingdon College at home Feb. 22, in a 1 p.m., match-up.
