UGA QB Jacob Eason suffers injury in 1st quarter

ATHENS, Ga. -- Georgia Bulldogs starting quarterback Jacob Eason went to the team's locker room with an injury during the first quarter against Appalachian State.

Eason was scrambling and was forced out of bounds, but he was hit late by an Appalachian State defender.

Eason tried to go back out onto the field, but he fell to the ground and the trainers came out to examine him. ESPN reported he suffered an injury to his left knee.

He went to the medical tent on the sideline, and he eventually was taken to the locker room.

Highly-touted freshman Jake Fromm came in for Eason.

Head Coach Kirby Smart later updated radio host Chuck Dowdle that the injury was a knee sprain.

"We think he can be back, but we aren't sure when," he told Dowdle.

We will have more details when they are made available.
