(WXIA) -- According to a Food Network spokesperson, Paula Deen's contract will not be renewed when it expires at the end of June.

This news comes just days after Deen confessed to and apologized for making racially offensive comments about African-Americans.

"Please forgive me for the mistakes I made," Paula Deen said at the end of a 46 second video released by the Food Network personality Friday afternoon.

Deen remains at the center of a media firestorm over revelations that in a deposition released this week, she admits to using racial slurs.

Friday morning, Deen was scheduled to appear in a live interview with Matt Lauer on NBC's "Today Show," for which Deen was a no-show.

The text of the video, which stars with the title "Paula Deen Statement" against a dark screen:

I want to apologize to everybody for the wrong that I've done. I want to learn and grow from this...inappropriate and hurtful language is totally, totally unacceptable. I've made plenty of mistakes along the way, but I beg you, my children, my team, my fans, my partners, I beg for your forgiveness. Please forgive me for the mistakes that I've made.

The video was released after a single-line Twitter message earlier in the afternoon which promised the statement "shortly." The video contains several unexplained cuts during its length.

On Friday evening, Paula Deen released another video where she explained her absence from a scheduled appearance on NBC's "Today Show." During the video, she also describes her family's racial philosophy and apologizes profusely.
