McCarthy Building Co. was inspired to help make April McConnell's transition from rehab to home a smooth one.
ATLANTA -- Thursday's Random Act of Kindness is for a woman who you no doubt saw in the headlines in a few short months ago. Fulton County Assistant District Attorney April McConnell was shot by her estranged husband, and has spent the last three months recovering.

April's fight to come back from this trauma inspired our friends at McCarthy Building Company to help ease her transition from the Shepherd Center, back home.
McCarthy offered to help April's transition through their "Heart Hats" program, which is organized by McCarthy employees and gives each volunteer a paid day off to lend their time to charitable projects and organizations. Employees spent a week building a wheelchair-accessible ramp, and made a few minor changes to the home's structure to adapt a wider door.
Along with McCarthy, several subcontractors also worked with the company to lend support in this project. Precision Concrete, Argos Ready Mix, Cleveland Electric, Eckardt Electric and Wil Fab Steel helped to complete this project quickly.
