ATLANTA -- Our clothes dryer is a modern convenience that we just wouldn't want to do without. Regular maintenance - like cleaning the lint out of the vents - keeps everything working efficiently and safely. Unfortunately it's one of those messy, unpleasant chores that we would just as soon skip.
For just $11 plus shipping and handling, the Lint Lizard claims it can hook up to any vacuum cleaner to quickly and easily clear out the lint deep in inside your dryer.
Gwenn Weiss usually just wipes the lint off the removable trap but she could see some lint that we couldn't get to. So she was happy to try the Lint Lizard to see if it helped.
"I'm looking at it and I can't imagine that it would but I don't know maybe attached to a vacuum it will work," she said.
Assembly is simple, there arejust three plastic pieces. Attaching it the vacuum took just a second and we were ready to go.
While the Lint Lizard looked easy to use in the commercial, Gwenn had a tough time getting to the lint.
"The clear hose part is not very flexible and it's hard to direct it in a certain direction," she said. "So you're really having to muscle your way into the vent."
And once she got to the lint nothing much seemed to be happening.
"It's not getting it up," Gwenn said.
After working at it for several minutes Gwenn only collected a small wad of lint.
"It's a lot of work to get very little lint out," she said. "I'm sweating a little bit. So it was a lot of work and I don't know that I would use it on a regular basis."
The maker of Lint Lizard says if you're not satisfied you can return it for a refund - less the seven dollar shipping and handling charge.
"For the Lint Lizard," Gwenn said, "my rating is two thumbs down."
