CUMMING, Ga. -- The Coca-Cola Co. picked 22 Americans, including one metro Atlantan, to carry Olympic torches in the London 2012 Olympic Torch Relay.
The group features 10 teenagers from across the United States, Olympic figure skater Michelle Kwan, Olympic swimmer Summer Sanders and fitness icon Jake Steinfeld of Body by Jake.
Gerry Brown, a Coca-Cola associate who lives in Cumming, Ga., is part of the group that was selected in recognition of personal and professional dedication to promoting healthy lifestyles and for empowering civic engagement in communities. Brown founded the nonprofit organization Because We Care, which is now called Trash Water International. The organization provides community assistance to poor, distressed and underprivileged people. He is also on the board of directors for Experience Missions International.
The torchbearers will carry the Flame in and around Oxford, England July 9-11, as it makes its way to the Opening Ceremony on July 27.
