NEW YORK -- On the heels of an announcement by New York Mayor Michael Bloombergattacking large soft drinks, theNew York City Board of Health says it may have its eye on other snacks.
"The popcorn isn't a whole lot better than the soda," board member Bruce Vladeck said, speaking of movie theater popcorn.
Another board member, Dr. Joel Forman took aim at milkshakes and coffee-based beverages in an article from NY station WNYW.
"There are certainly milkshakes and milk-coffee beverages that have monstrous amounts of calories," Forman said.
The New York City Restaurant Association says they are considering legal action against the city if the measures go into affect. A recent poll showed more than 50 percent of New York voters opposed Bloomberg's proposed ban on larger sugar-laden soft drinks.
