Orlando, FL (Sports Network) - The Orlando Magic named Rob Hennigan as the team's new general manager Wednesday.

Hennigan spent the last four years with the Oklahoma City Thunder, including the last two seasons as the assistant general manager.

During his time in Oklahoma City, the Thunder compiled a 175-137 regular season record, won 50-or-more games twice, reached the Western Conference finals twice and earned their first trip to the NBA Finals this season.

Prior to joining the Thunder, Hennigan was a member of the San Antonio Spurs front office from 2005-08.

"It is with great enthusiasm and optimism that we announce Rob Hennigan as our new general manager," Magic chief executive officer Alex Martins said. "Rob is an astute strategist and evaluator of talent who comes to the Magic family from two championship-level organizations. We feel he is an outstanding fit and the right choice to lead our basketball operations team in achieving our championship goals."

The Worcester, Massachusetts native replaces Otis Smith, who stepped down from the position after the Magic were eliminated in five games by the Indiana Pacers in the Eastern Conference semifinals.
