"He lives nearby in Atlanta and was actually here a good deal with his twin boys and wife," said Jared Foerst with Grand Estates Auction Company, which is holding the auction. "The style of architecture he chose is unique for this locale, but definitely attracts attention on its own."
Custom built in 2009, the five-bedroom, five-and-a-half-bathroom retreat has Rogers' imprint, as he worked closely with the designer when creating the cozy home. Foerst said Rogers' style choicescan be seen in everything from the fabrics to the furnishings to the brands of high-end kitchen appliances.
Situated on 150 acres of virgin forest, it will go to the highest bidder June 26 through "absolute auction."
"Absolute auction means there is no reserve or a minimum," Foerst said.
