St. Louis, MO (Sports Network) - The St. Louis Rams signed defensive end Chris Long to a four-year contract extension Sunday.

Financial terms of the pact were not disclosed.

Long, who the Rams selected with the second overall pick in the 2008 draft, recorded 37 tackles and 13 sacks in 16 games last season.

The 27-year-old has amassed 149 tackles and 30 1/2 sacks while not missing a game in his four-year career.

"He's had a great start to his career and we want to give him a chance to really settle in here and be one of the mainstays on our defense," Rams head coach Jeff Fisher said.
