ATHENS, Ga. -- Jamie Hood was removed from a court hearing by sheriff's deputies after he made repeated outbursts.
Hood was removed from Monday's hearing after he accused police officer Tony Howard of police brutality.
Hood is accused of shooting Howard and killing fellow officer Elmer "Buddy" Christian in March 2011. He faces the death penalty if convicted.
Monday's court hearing was supposed to address preliminary matters leading to a determination of Hood's mental capacity. Superior Court Judge David Sweat gave Hood's attorneys two weeks to gather and provide mental health experts with any documents they believe will assist them in determining Hood's competency.
