UPDATE (September 25, 2012) -- 11 Alive's Fugitive of the Week Antwaun Cook has been taken into custody by the Atlanta Police Department.

Police received a tip from an anonymous caller who knew where Cook was. Cook gave police a fake name. The US Marshals were called to the scene an positively identified Coook.

He was wanted for an armed robbery that happened outside the Driftwood Lounge on Moreland Avenue last June.

ATLANTA -- Antwaun Cook is 11Alive's Fugitive of the Week for August 2.

Cook, 26, of Atlanta is wanted by the Atlanta Police Department and the U.S. Marshals Service for armed robbery and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

The charges stem from an incident that happened on June 16 outside the Driftwood Lounge on Moreland Avenue in Atlanta. Cook is accused of robbing a man at gunpoint in the parking lot.

Cook has an extensive criminal history. According to the Fulton County Sheriff's Office and DeKalb County Sheriff's Office, Cook has been arrested at least eight times since 2004.

The U.S. Marshals say his arrest history could make him eligible to be prosecuted federally under the U.S. Attorney's Violent Repeat Offender Program when he's caught.

But catching him has been a problem. Deputy U.S. Marshal Eric Heinze said Cook still hangs out in the Moreland Avenue and McDonough Boulevard area. Heinze said he's sure people have seen Cook but won't call police.

"He's ruthless," Heinze said. "He threatens everybody throughout the community and if they tell the police on him, they fear they'll suffer some sort of repercussion."

The U.S. Marshals have reached out to 11Alive News and Cook is now featured on Rowson's Crime Scene as our Fugitive of the Week. If you know where he is, you can email the U.S. Marshals Anonymously from our website or make an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers Atlanta by calling 404-577-TIPS(8477)
