EAST POINT, Ga. -- U.S. Marshals were forced to shoot an uncooperative suspect while trying to arrest him Wednesday morning.
The unidentified man was shot shortly after midnight in a room at the Crowne Plaza Atlanta-Airport Hotel on Virginia Avenue in East Point.
East Point Police spokesperson Sgt. Allyn Glover said local police officers and agents with the U.S. Marshal's Fugitive Task Force went to the hotel to arrest the suspect on charges of trafficking methamphetamine and possession of explosives.
Glover said the suspect threatened the Marshals with a handgun, forcing them to shoot him. He was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital in stable condition.
The MARTA Explosives Unit was called to the scene as a precaution to check the suspect's car, Glover said.
