San Diego, CA (Sports Network) - San Diego Chargers defensive tackle Garrett Brown has been suspended without pay for the team's first four games of the regular season for violating the NFL policy on performance enhancing substances.

He will be eligible to return to the active roster on October 1 and is allowed to take part in all preseason practices and games.

Undrafted out of Minnesota in 2010, Brown has never appeared in an NFL game.
