Tornado watch is in effect until 3am for all of N Georgia tonight. Damaging winds, heavy rain, and isolated tornadoes are possible across the state through the overnight hours.

The tornado threat across parts of N Georgia has increased in the last few hours as the upper system gets closer. The area that is being monitored is down below in the brown shading, as of right there have been no reports of severe weather but we have seen some very heavy rainfall.

As we progress through the evening the upper energy with quite a bit of rotation will get closer and closer to N Georgia which will increase the amount of rotation in the atmosphere. At the same time our instability has increased as well so as these storms in Alabama get closer we could see some severe weather later tonight with a slim chance of an isolated tornado.
