ATLANTA -- Girl Scout Cookie packages are getting their first makeover since 1999, as the Georgia-born organization promotes the five financial literacy and entrepreneurship skills it seeks to teach girls.

The new Girl Scout Cookie packages showcase goal setting, decision making, money management, people skills, and business ethics.

The Girl Scouts partnered with the New York office of Anthem Worldwide to redesign the packaging, which the Girl Scouts said needed to be more contemporary to reflect the new brand identity and embody the spirit of Girl Scouting, while showing customers how they can reconnect with the organization.

The Girl Scout Cookie season runs from October to May, with the majority of local cookie sales beginning in late January or early February.

The Girls Scouts of the USA began in Savannah, Ga. The organization will mark its 100th anniversary on March 12.
