CARTERSVILLE, Ga. -- A 20-year-old man is chargedwith murder, aggravated battery and two counts of false imprisonment after police said he attackedtwo women he was living withTuesday morning.

Cartersville Police Lt. Mark Camp said Deandre Davoughin Hightower stabbed 29-year-old Candice Piper to death after an argument Tuesday morning at their home in the Alexandria Landing apartments on Old Mill Road.

"It appears that Miss Piper had not stayed at the apartment on Monday night," Camp said in a statement. "When she came home in the morning, she and Mr. Hightower got into an altercation."

Camp said the other woman, Rosa Williams,was asleep when the altercation began and didn't know what caused the attack.Williamswas not stabbed, but she toldpolice Hightower pushed her against a wall. She wastreated for superficial injuries.

When officers arrived, Williams said Hightower ran into the woods behind the apartment complex. He was found and arrested within 20 minutes.
