CUMMING, Ga. -- Reaping Nature Educational Outreach Foundation and Tyson Foods installed a compost bin at Shiloh Point Elementary School on Wednesday morning.
On October 3 at 10 a.m., the compost bin was made available for use at the school. Previously, bins were made for MashburnElementary, and work continues to provide bins toNorth Forsyth High School, Forsyth Central High School, and Daves Creek Elementary.
Horizons Teacher of Mashburn Elementary Traci Wallace said, "The compost bin has just opened up opportunities for students to research the benefits of composting and ways to make a positive difference in our environment. Specifically, our compost bin/garden project has the potential to become an outdoor classroom for teachers addressing state standards about producers, consumers, and decomposers in our community, the food chain, and how changes in our environment affect our community ecosystem."
