ATLANTA -- Carter's Inc. plans to consolidate its retail store and financial operations, currently based in Connecticut, with their Atlanta-based headquarters operations, according to an announcement made by Governor Nathan Deal and Michael D. Casey, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Carter's, Inc.
The consolidationwill bring around 200 jobs to Atlanta, mostly in the areas retail merchandising and store operations, finance and information technology. The new positions will add to the current 1,200 Carter's, Inc. jobs already in the Atlanta metropolitan area.
"We welcome Carter's additional presence in Georgia," Deal said. "Carter's is well-acquainted with the competitive benefits our business climate can provide for headquarters operations, and we look forward to helping the company continue to thrive here."
According to Carter's, Inc., the consolidation will be completed by the end of 2013. The company has been in Georgia since 1925, and recently opened a multi-channel distribution center in Braselton, Ga. Over 250 jobs were created to carry out e-commerce, retail and wholesale operations.
"We have a long and successful history of doing business in Georgia," Casey said. "Atlanta is a very compelling place to live and work. We look forward to bringing our Connecticut-based operations to Atlanta."
