ACWORTH, Ga. -- The Georgia State Patrolis turning to the public for help to identify a hit-run driver who killed an Acworth man on July 7, 2012.

Police have spent three months investigating the case without an arrest and are hoping a $4,000 Crime Stoppersreward will help them name a suspect.

Larry Ward, of Acworth, was walking along Kellogg Creek Road in Acworth when he was struck and killed by a vehicle that veered off the road. The driver never stopped.

"I'm not going to feel better about it until the person is off the streets," said Misty Ward, the victim's widow.

The couple's daughter, Bailey, was only seven months old when the accident happened. "She still knows who he is," her mother said. "She sees his picture and gets excited and it breaks my heart."

It was shortly after midnight on July 7 when Ward went out for a walk. He and his wife were camping with friends at a nearby campground.

Misty Ward found out the next morning her husband was struck and killed by a driver who didn't stick around.

"If they could leave and do this and still be out there living their life, then they could do it again," she said.

The Georgia State Patrol was able to match pieces of debris found at the scene to a vehicle. They don't know the color, but they know it was a 1992-1996 Ford F150XL pickup truck. It will have damage to the front grill.

If you know someone who drives a pickup truck fitting that description or if you work at a repair shop and have done repair work on a grill that matches the description, call Crime Stoppers Atlanta at 404-577-TIPS (8477).

Misty Ward said someday she will have to tell her daughter what happened, but the story won't be complete until she knows who the driver was.

"It's going to be hard, and I'm still going to have to explain to my daughter one day how someone could do this," she said.
