Far Hills, NJ (Sports Network) - The United States Golf Association announced on Monday that Rolling Green Golf Club will host the 2016 U.S. Women's Amateur Championship.

Rolling Green, which will be celebrating its 90th anniversary in 2016, previously hosted the 1976 U.S. Women's Open. JoAnne Carner beat 1975 winner Sandra Palmer in a playoff at that championship.

"The USGA is very happy to bring another national championship to Rolling Green," said Thomas J. O'Toole Jr., USGA vice president and Championship Committee chairman. "The course has already proven to be a formidable test, and it will undoubtedly present yet another stern challenge when it hosts the world's finest female amateur players."

This will be the second USGA Championship for Rolling Green. The course has hosted many Pennsylvania Opens and numerous Golf Association of Philadelphia championships. One of the more notable Pennsylvania Opens was in 1990 when five-time USGA champion Jay Sigel beat future U.S. Open champion Jim Furyk by a single stroke.
